
Bastian Berlinghof began his horn studies at the age of eight with the local Wind Band Öflingen. From 2014 to 2019, he participated in the talent program at the Bad Säckingen Youth Music School. After transferring to the Zurich Conservatory of Music in 2019, he joined their talent program and, in 2020, the Pre-College under Prof. Mischa Greull.
In 2018, he won several first prizes at the “Jugend musiziert” competition, advancing to the national finals. He also reached the finals of the MKZ Award in 2019. Berlinghof received the Volksbank Hochrhein Foundation Prize and scholarships from the “Blechbläser Nachwuchs” support group and the Lyra Foundation.
Since 2017, he has been a member of the Zurich Youth Symphony Orchestra, with which he toured England, Finland, Austria, and South Korea. In 2019, he performed with the Verbier Festival Youth Orchestra. He joined the Gstaad Festival Orchestra as an academy member in 2023 and became an academy member at the Opera House Zurich in 2024. He regularly performs as a substitute with the Basel Chamber Orchestra and the Liechtenstein Symphony Orchestra.
Berlinghof has studied with renowned teachers such as Prof. Frøydis Ree Wekre, Prof. Szabolcs Zempléni, Prof. Johannes Hinterholzer, Carsten Duffin, Prof. Jörg Brückner, Fergus McWilliam, and Prof. David Johnson. He completed his Bachelor’s degree in 2024 at Zurich University of the Arts under Prof. Mischa Greull and Prof. Nigel Downing. Starting in September 2024, he will begin his Master’s studies with Prof. Felix Dervaux at the same institution.
